About us
The idea to create BARCA emerged after some field trips, observations of extreme natural/ climate events and other recent developments that have demonstrated the need for urgent action and interventions to address the human crises that lead society to unsustainability and climate insecurity.
Our focus is on adaptation defined as the capacity of a system to adjust itself to the effects of climate change with the objective of moderate possible hazards, or dealing with its consequences.
It is our belief that vulnerable low income population will suffer even more than today what will lead to an increase in inequalities all around the globe that may enhance conflicts and insecurity to society. We also believe that infrastructure in both developed and developing countries will be affected and therefore collaborative action should be taken by governments, enterprises and civil society to increase resilience and reduce vulnerability.
Our general strategy is based on the use of knowledge, innovation and education to build a culture of safety and resilience at all levels following the Priority for Action of UN Hyogo Framework for Action 2005-2015: Building the Resilience of Nations and Communities to Disasters.
